Applicants must have completed an undergraduate bachelor's degree program at a regionally accredited institution.

Application Instructions

1. Complete the online application.
   • Law School Admission Council Online Application
2. Register for and take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT).
   The LSAT is offered several times throughout the year. Dates can be found at lsac.org
   • LSAT score(s) will be included automatically as a part of your Credential Assembly Service (CAS) Report.
   • You may submit your application prior to taking the LSAT. Please indicate on your application when you will be taking the exam.
3. Register for the Credential Assembly Service (CAS) - Required
4. Submit undergraduate transcripts and graduate transcripts (if applicable) to the CAS. - Required
5. Submit two letters of recommendation to the CAS - Required
6. Submit a personal statement - Required
   • Your personal statement must be uploaded and sent through the LSAC online application process as a part of your online application. Capital Law does not require adherence to a particular prompt; an applicant may choose to explore whichever subject they so choose. You may explore why you wish to attend law school, a memorable experience, a personal story - we encourage you to be personal and introduce yourself to the Admission Committee. We value learning about an applicant's perspective, worldview, and unique attributes that can be added to the student body. The personal statement gives you the opportunity to introduce yourself beyond quantitative factors such as the LSAT score, academic grade point average, and information reflected on your resume. Your statement should be no longer than two pages in length, double-spaced. As strong written communication is valuable in the legal field, we encourage you to spend adequate time proofreading, editing, and finessing this portion of your application.
7. Submit special circumstances and/or optional essay.
   • Essay(s) must be uploaded as a part of your online application. These written statements might be presented as a statement regarding the unique perspective you would bring as a student, a Why Capital Statement, an explanation of grades or LSAT scores, or another optional statement of the applicant's choosing. We welcome you to include an optional statement, should you determine it will benefit your application. We encourage optional statements to be no longer than one page in length, double-spaced.
8. Submit a resume - Required
   • Your resume must be uploaded as a part of your online application. There is no required length. Please be thorough and list, at minimum, the previous five years of experience. You should feel comfortable including full-time, part-time, volunteer, and unpaid employment and experiences, alongside extracurricular activities.
     

Institutional Scholarships. Scholarship decisions are based primarily on undergraduate academic performance and LSAT scores. Awards range from $3,000 to $30,000. Funds are applied to a student's account in two equal disbursements in the fall and spring semesters. Scholarship funds are not available for use during the summer term. Institutional scholarships are renewable each year if the student meets the renewal criteria. Institutional scholarships cannot exceed the cost of tuition.

Character and Fitness Disclosure

In addition to a bar examination, there are character, fitness, and other qualifications for admission to the bar in every U.S. jurisdiction. Applicants are encouraged to determine the requirements for any jurisdiction in which they intend to seek admission by contacting the jurisdiction. Addresses for all relevant bar admission agencies are available through the National Conference of Bar Examiners. Applicants can also find detailed information in the Comprehensive Guide to Bar Admission Requirements, published by the National Conference of Bar Examiners. Acceptance by Capital University Law School does not guarantee certification by any state’s Board of Law Examiners.
